The 2025 BMW X1 lineup gets minor updates for the new model year. The subcompact SUV now comes standard with heated front seats and Personal eSIM 5G, and a heated steering wheel is available as a stand-alone option. Additionally, the Premium Package for the X1 xDrive28i now pairs the Active Driving Assistant safety suite with adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go for semi-autonomous driving.
Powertrains and Performance
The X1 xDrive28i is equipped with a 241-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 295 pounds-feet of torque; it’s paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. BMW says it can achieve 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds, and it delivers an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 24/33/28 mpg city/highway/combined.
The X1 M35i includes a 313-hp, turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder that generates 295 pounds-feet of torque, and it achieves expectedly lower EPA ratings of 23/31/26 mpg. BMW says it’s good for a 0-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds and a top speed of up to 155 mph.
Trim Levels and Technology
Both of the X1’s only variants, the xDrive28i and M35i, are equipped with BMW’s curved display, integrating a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch central touchscreen into a seamless setup. This display runs BMW OS 9, which offers more intuitive touch controls, enhanced voice interaction and support for over-the-air software updates, ensuring features like navigation and system settings remain current. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across both trims alongside BMW’s Remote Services, which enable functions like remote door unlock, vehicle tracking and climate-control adjustments via the My BMW App.
The xDrive28i features perforated synthetic leather upholstery, a synthetic leather dashboard, dual-zone automatic climate control and ambient interior lighting. Its standard suite of safety systems, under the Active Driving Assistant Package, includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and steering assist, speed limit recognition and rear cross-traffic warning.
The M35i builds on this foundation with sport-oriented upgrades, including an adaptive M suspension and M sport brakes from BMW’s M performance division. Its interior features aluminum hexacube trim, a three-spoke leather-wrapped M Sport steering wheel and Harman Kardon premium audio. On the exterior, the M35i stands out with dark trim, an M rear spoiler and trim-specific 19-inch M dual-spoke wheels.
Pricing and Availability
The 2025 BMW X1 is available now. The xDrive28i starts at $42,125, and the M35i xDrive has a starting price of $51,525 (pricing includes a $1,175 destination charge).
