2009 Land Rover Range Rover Overview
The automaker’s signature model, offering refinement and quality to match their off-road expertise, the 2009 Land Rover Range Rover is back to further that luxury SUV tradition.
The five-passenger Range Rover is available in two trim levels: HSE and Supercharged. The HSE is powered by a 4.4-liter, 305-horsepower V-8 behemoth under the hood, while the Supercharged climbs a giant step higher with a 4.2-liter, 400-horsepower supercharged V-8. Married to a six-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift manual shift mode, all-wheel drive comes standard on these vehicles with the automaker’s well-received "Terrain Response" system to forge through a variety of unexpected off-road conditions.
Standing toe-to-toe with impressive competition from the Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GL550 and Lexus LX 570, the Range Rover presents a new optional Autobiography Package on the Supercharged trim, providing a rear-seat entertainment system, exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, four-zone climate control and extended leather and wood trim accents. Gas mileage is on par with others in its class, with fuel economy estimated at 12 mpg city and 18 mpg highway.
Standard equipment on the Range Rover includes a power sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, heated leather seats, satellite radio, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and a navigation system. Maximum towing capacity is an impressive 7,716 lbs., while Dynamic Stability Control takes the weight distribution into the equation and adjusts braking to match.
The Range Rover has continued Land Rover’s tireless commitment to increased safety. An array of details is heightened by 4-wheel Electronic Traction Control, which maximizes vehicle traction on a variety of surfaces. The Standard Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Assist prevents wheel immobility and automatically increases braking power in emergency situations. Active Rollover Mitigation increases handling abilities in fast corners. Eight standard airbags, including dual front, dual side driver and front-passenger airbags, and side curtain airbags for front- and rear-seating positions are standard.
Near the pinnacle of the full-size SUV class, the 2009 Land Rover Range Rover offers amazing overall value and maximum performance, making it a terrific buying decision.
