For 2026, the Atlas maintains a streamlined powertrain, relying solely on a turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder engine. This engine delivers a robust 269 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, offering better responsiveness and efficiency compared to its previous V6 option. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and is available with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or Volkswagen’s capable 4MOTION® all-wheel drive system. This setup ensures that the Atlas is well-equipped for towing, boasting a maximum capacity of 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
The Atlas truly distinguishes itself with its interior and family-centric design. It offers three rows of seating with genuine comfort for up to seven passengers, including one of the most adult-friendly third rows in its class. In terms of technology, the cabin is modern and intuitive, with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro instrument cluster that are both standard across the lineup.
