Looks great but new tranny is sub-par

This truck cannot make up its mind which gear it wants to drive in. It is constantly shifting between gears which takes away from it's power when needed. The truck shifts into fifth gear before I get to 40 MPH which is really frustrating.

why did they put a tono cover on that is not water proof ,why are they are the still using drum brakes on a truck of the 21 century ????

5k trans has erratic shifting that engineer calls

by arty from greendale, wi | February 11, 2020

Only 5k miles but the transmission has been a dud ever since the temp dropped. Do you want to buy a brand new truck with a jerky transmission that Don Jacobs service teams services twice as "erratic shifting?" After telling me they'd "never seen a transmission problem present itself like mine" they had an engineer come in and tell them that all brand new tacomas do this. The truck jerks me forward when it shifts until the ATF warms up. So which is it? A problem you've never seen before and need a week to diagnose or an intentional transmission design. I've failed a claim with Toyota and will be pursuing a lemon law claim. If you're looking for a new Toyota Tacoma read up on the incessant transmission issues from 2016 forward. Oh yes truck came from factory with an underfilled transmission but I'm sure this jerky trans has nothing to do with that
