2012 Suzuki SX4 Overview

The 2012 Suzuki SX4 is available in a four-door sedan, five-door SportBack hatchback, and all-wheel drive Crossover hatchback. The sedan and hatchback are offered in front-wheel drive, and the crossover is equipped with all-wheel drive. All models seat five passengers.

All versions of the SX4 come with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with a maximum horsepower of 150 when paired with the six-speed manual transmission, or 148-horsepower when mated with the continuously variable automatic transmission. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters are available in models equipped with the CVT.

The SX4 has an EPA fuel economy rating of 22 to 25 mpg in the city, and 29 to 33 mpg on the highway.

The SX4 includes a manual six-way adjustable driver’s seat with height adjustment, armrests for the driver and front passenger, and 60/40 split folding rear seats. Heated driver and front passenger seats are available on the Crossover. A remote keyless entry system is available, and all models have standard power windows, door locks and mirrors. The Crossover has a standard power liftgate. Air conditioning and the audio system are standard on all models except for the base sedan. Steering wheel-mounted audio controls, Bluetooth hands-free calling, touchscreen navigation, and data subscription service with real-time safety cameras, weather, information and entertainment lookup and Google search capability are available.

All three models of the SX4 share the iconic Suzuki diamond-patterned front grille and lower black airdam, which is framed on either side by available front fog lamps. The angular front jeweled-type headlights provide more visibility using a multi-reflector surface. The sedan and SportBack have an available aero body kit, and the Crossover includes roof rack rails, wheel arch protection molding, and lower body sill and rear bumper protection molding. All models include body-color door handles and mirrors, and the Crossover mirrors include standard heating. All models include front windshield wipers with variable intermittent adjustment, and the SportBack and Crossover include a rear window wiper with rear window defrost. The sedan includes 15-iinch steel wheels with full covers, with 15-inch and 17-inch alloy wheel upgrades. The SportBack offers 17-inch alloy wheels, and the Crossover features 16-inch steel wheels with full covers or alloy wheels.

All models of the SX4 include eight standard airbags: dual front airbags, front and rear seat side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags. The chassis is reinforced with side impact door beams. The four-wheel anti-lock brake system includes electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. Electronic stability control and a tire pressure monitoring system are included.

With an offering of three models – the sedan, the SportBack, and the Crossover – the 2012 Suzuki SX4 provides a lot of variety to suit most drivers. The base model sedan is lacking in some basic features, such as an audio system and air conditioning, but the upgraded and Sport models include some attractive options.
