Cylinder misfire at 35k miles

by Chris from KDH, NC | August 14, 2019

Ive never had a vehicle where I actually needed to use the warranty. The A/C went out and took 2.5weeks to get the part. The heated mirrors didnt work since I bout the vehicle and each mirror costs about $350 and one of the mirrors it took over 3 months to get the part. Then one cylinder misfired and I had to have it towed to a dealership that has a certified Promaster Tech, so I had to pay a $450 tow even though it should have been covered under warranty. The repairs were free but 300 miles later the catalytic converter had to be replaced. Now I have to drive a nearly new car as if it is an old beater and I am afraid to drive cross the state for fear of it breaking down again.

2017 RAM ProMaster 2500 Overview

The 2017 RAM ProMaster 2500 is a commercial van for cargo and passenger transport. The 2500 Cargo Van has two wheelbases options: the 136-inch wheelbase and 159-inch wheelbase. The 2500 Window Van is only available with the 159-inch wheelbase. Both vans come with the high roof configuration.

Overall, the ProMaster 2500 has a simple, boxy exterior with a steep sloping front-end. Standard black bumpers and side moldings surround the van, which help hide dings and scratches that are bound to occur on the job. The van also has a standard sliding, side passenger door and 50/50 split rear doors that swing out 260 degrees for easy loading and unloading. The 2500 Window Van has more rear visibility of the two vans, due to its driver-side and passenger-side windows. A chrome grille, daytime running lamps, fog lights, power/heated side mirrors, tinted rear windows, and a trailer hitch receiver are available.

Under the hood, the ProMaster 2500 is powered by a 280-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. A more fuel-efficient 174-hp, diesel 3.0-liter 4-cylinder is available as well. Maximum towing capacity for the 2500 is 5,100 pounds. A 180-amp alternator comes standard, while a 220-amp alternator is available.

Inside, the ProMaster 2500 has a barebone interior, which can be outfitted with additional amenities. The 2500 has a maximum 460 cubic feet of cargo room. A standard 12-volt power outlet is mounted in the instrument panel. The standard audio system can now be upgraded to either the UConnect 3.0 or 5.0 multimedia systems. The 3.0 system has a 4-line text display, an auxiliary audio jack, and a USB port, while the 5.0 system adds a 5-inch touchscreen, an integrated navigation system, a satellite radio, and Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear HVAC, heated front seats, additional storage, rear passenger seats, and cargo tie down rings are also available.

Standard safety features include front air bags, antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Rear park assist, a backup camera, and a rear window wiper are available as well. An electronic parking brake is available for the diesel engine models.
