2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Overview

If you are looking for a fun-to-drive, spacious sports sedan at an affordable price, the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer may be your cup of tea.

Three main engine options let you choose how hot you like your Lancer, from a 152-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-four engine to a 237-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four. In between is a 168-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-banger, and a PZEV version of the base motor is also available. Transmission choices include two variants of a continuously variable transmission, a five-speed manual and a dual-clutch transmission. Fuel economy ratings are 17-23 mpg city and 25-31 highway. Power is superior to the Honda Civic – which has a higher base price – and fuel economy bests the more expensive Subaru Impreza.

DE, ES, GTS and Ralliart models create diversity in the Lancer lineup. All trims boast more space than the competition in key metrics such as trunk size and rear legroom. The DE’s interior is highlighted by a 140-watt stereo with CD player. The ES steps up the Lancer’s game with a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel inside, and 16-inch alloy wheels outside. The GTS is more performance-oriented with its sport-tuned suspension, enhanced structural bracing and 18-inch alloy wheels. Also included in the GTS package are Bluetooth connectivity and magnesium paddle shifters for CVT-equipped models.

If you are bold enough to go all-out, get the Ralliart with its full-time all-wheel drive system and unique bodywork. The Ralliart benefits from unique suspension tuning for superior driving fun. More fun is available with the Recaro® Sport Package, which includes Recaro® sport front seats, HID headlamps and a 710-watt Rockford Fosgate nine-speaker stereo with 10-inch subwoofer and SIRIUS Satellite Radio. A navigation system with seven-inch LCD touch-screen, parking sensors and aluminum trim are available separately.

Active Stability Control is a great standard safety feature at this price point, and joins antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution in enhancing accident avoidance. Seven airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag, provide excellent impact cushioning and help the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer deliver Four-Star front impact ratings in government testing, and “Good” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Power, handling and sporty looks create a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer that is as fun and unique as you.
