The 2026 Hyundai Tucson is poised for a significant redesign, marking the start of the compact crossover's fifth generation. While an official release date has not been announced, some sources anticipate a global reveal in the third quarter of 2026, with some markets potentially seeing the vehicle in the fall of 2025 or early 2026. This next-gen model is expected to be a complete overhaul, with new styling, updated powertrains, and a suite of advanced technology.
The new Tucson is rumored to adopt a more rugged and boxy exterior design, drawing inspiration from the Hyundai Santa Fe and Nexo. This departure from the current model's curvier "Sensuous Sportiness" aesthetic is expected to give it a more masculine and utilitarian look. Inside, the cabin is set to receive a simplified, tech-forward interior. Key features are likely to include a next-generation infotainment system called Pleos Connect, which is based on Android Automotive OS and offers AI voice assistance, multi-window layouts, and personalized profiles. Dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and digital gauge cluster are also anticipated on higher trims.
Under the hood, the 2026 Tucson is expected to offer a variety of powertrain options. The base engine is a 2.5-liter inline-four producing 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. However, a major shift is a more significant focus on hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options. The hybrid model is expected to feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor, with a combined output of around 231 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The PHEV model will likely offer even more power, possibly around 268 horsepower, and an increased electric-only range.
The 2026 Hyundai Tucson will continue to offer a range of trims, including the SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited. All models will come standard with a comprehensive suite of safety features as part of the Hyundai SmartSense system, including forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning. Available upgrades will include a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, and a premium Bose sound system.
