2010 Hyundai Genesis Overview

In its second year of production, the Hyundai Genesis full-size luxury sedan adds a few comfort and convenience amenities for 2010, including adaptive cruise control, an electronic parking brake, touch-screen navigation and a leather seating surface for the upper-level trim.

The rear-wheel-drive 2010 Hyundai Genesis (also available as a coupe) is available in base 3.8 and premium 4.6 trim levels and equipped with two engine options: a 290-horsepower, 3.8-liter V-6 or 375-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with auto-manual shift. The Genesis can achieve competitive EPA fuel economy ratings for its class, ranging between 17-18 mpg in the city and 25-27 mpg on the highway.

The 2010 Hyundai Genesis faces competition from Buick Lucerne, Chrysler 300 and Toyota Avalon in the full-size sedan segment. It rests on standard 17-inch wheels with available 18-inch wheels and features standard heated mirrors and fog lights and optional adaptive headlights that turn in the direction you steer the vehicle. Inside, you’ll find standard XM Satellite Radio and Bluetooth connectivity, an optional heated/cooled driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a seven-speaker audio system with CD player and MP3 capability and optional touch-screen navigation system.

A Premium package adds a sunroof, automatic windshield wipers, a power rear sunshade and 14-speaker surround-sound system with a six-CD changer and HD radio. A Technology package adds adaptive xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a premium 17-speaker Lexicon audio system, a six-DVD changer, navigation system and Driver Information System (similar to BMW’s iDrive or Mercedes’ COMAND). For added cargo capacity, the 2010 Hyundai Genesis is equipped with a 15.9-cubic-foot trunk.

The 2010 Hyundai Genesis offers a long list of standard safety features that include antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, an electronic stability system, side-impact airbags for front and rear seats, side curtain airbags and front active head restraints. Front and rear parking sensors with a backup camera are optional. In government crash tests, the 2010 Hyundai Genesis earned a Five-Star rating for frontal and side-impact protection for all occupants. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the Genesis a "Good" rating for frontal-offset and side-impact protection.

For 2010, Hyundai builds on the success it achieved when it launched the Genesis full-size luxury sedan in 2009 by adding even more comfort and convenience amenities and packages.
