Don't Overpay for Your New Ford F-250

2025 Ford F-250 Overview

Ford unequivocally dominates the pickup truck world. Its F-Series Super Duty boasts more powerful gas and diesel engines than the competition, as well as higher maximum payload (8,000 pounds) and towing capacities (40,000 pounds). For the 2025 model year, Ford continues to massage its golden goose, adding more luxury features and capability-enhancing options.

Black seems to be winning out over shiny finishes for conveying status, as the Platinum trim level now sports a black grille and tailgate applique and a black leather interior with blue accents. Buyers can opt for a new Platinum Plus Package, which includes a unique satin-finish grille with bright chrome accents, a Smoked Truffle interior featuring perforated Venetian leather seats with French stitching, and a 2-kilowatt onboard power source for tools and toys.

Down a step in the trim-level hierarchy, the Lariat gets demoted from real leather to synthetic, as well as from Ford’s 7.3-liter gas V-8 engine to the 6.8-liter V-8. Previously, the smaller 405-horsepower V-8 (good for 445 pounds-feet of torque) was only standard on the entry-level XL trim; now it powers the XL, XLT and Lariat. The 7.3-liter, which generates 430 hp and 485 pounds-feet, remains standard on the King Ranch and Platinum. Ford continues to offer a 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V-8 on every trim level; it makes 475 hp and 1,050 pounds-feet in standard form and 500 hp and 1,200 pounds-feet in high-output trim. Regardless of engine, every Super Duty has a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Tug a Boat (or Two)
To better make use of that output, Ford has added more towing features. An auxiliary trailer camera, a tire pressure monitoring system for trailers and blind spot monitors that cover the length of whatever you’re towing are available. Fleet managers and those who send their Super Dutys directly to upfitters will appreciate the upgraded Ford Pro Vehicle Integration System 2.0, which simplifies access to the truck’s increasingly complex onboard computer systems for installation of aftermarket equipment.
