2010 Dodge Challenger

2010 Dodge Challenger Overview

The glory days of American muscle are back, and Dodge is in the mix with its own formidable contender. The 2010 Dodge Challenger is an excellent, affordable expression of Detroit muscle.

Dodge’s 250-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 and 376-horsepower, 5.7-liter V-8 put the Challenger halfway between the lower-priced Mustang and the stronger Camaro in terms of horsepower. Both motors are mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, while the V-8 R/T model has an optional six-speed manual with a unique pistol-grip shifter. Fuel economy ratings of 13-17 in the city and 19-25 on the highway keep the Challenger in the game, and about tie the Mustang's mileage numbers.

Once inside the 2010 Challenger you’ll notice that it boasts significantly more room than either the Chevy Camaro or the Ford Mustang.  The rear seat handles three occupants (the others seat two) and offers a whopping two and a half inches more rear legroom. The 16.2 cubic foot trunk is also much bigger than that of the other muscle cars.

The rear-wheel-drive base trim comes with power adjustable front seats, remote keyless entry and a CD player. Options include a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, heat for the front two seats, Sirius Satellite Radio, Boston Acoustics stereo and a hard-drive based navigation system. A SE Rallye package spices up the base model’s appearance with a retro hood, chromed fuel-filler door, unique color scheme and special 18-inch Rallye wheels.

The R/T model makes the leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob standard features. Dodge’s Uconnect™ Multimedia is grouped with the Sound Group I & II options packages and enhances media connectivity, as well as offering directions and real-time traffic with the navigation system. For the driving enthusiast, Dodge offers the Super Track Pack, which includes 20-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car tires, a bigger rear stabilizer bar, self-leveling shocks and a performance-oriented calibration for the stability control system.

Optional antilock brakes (standard on the R/T model) plus standard stability and traction control systems help the driver keep this hot pony car reigned in. Dual front and front-side airbags plus two-row head airbags provide an excellent safety cushion inside this big, sturdy chassis. This excellent safety package garners Five-Star crash test ratings all around.

The 2010 Dodge Challenger is fast, spacious, affordable, and undeniably classic.
