The 2017 Chevrolet Trax is a subcompact SUV that seats 5 passengers. It competes with the Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V, and Jeep Renegade. This year, it has been refreshed with updated exterior styling as well as additional interior amenities and active safety technology.

Three trims are available: the LS, LT, and Premier.

The Trax receives a more aggressive facelift that matches the rest of Chevrolet’s lineup. Standard features include daytime running lights, body-color power side mirrors, body-color door handles, and 16-inch wheels. Front fog lights, power/heated side mirrors, LED taillights, chrome accents, and larger 18-inch aluminum wheels are available as well.

Powering the Trax is a standard 138-hp, turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, while all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional. Fuel economy for FWD models is an EPA-estimated 26/34 mpg city/highway. It lowers to a 24/31 mpg rating for AWD models.

Inside, the Trax has a standard cloth interior with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The center stack features a standard Chevrolet MyLink multimedia system that includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, and 2 USB ports. It can be upgraded with an integrated navigation system, OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription required), and a Bose premium audio system. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows/locks, and remote keyless entry. Leatherette upholstery, remote vehicle start, cruise control, and a power moonroof are also available.

Standard safety features include a backup camera and a tire pressure monitoring system. Available active safety features now include forward collision alert, lane departure warning, a blindspot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist.
