Excellent performance, power and handling

This car is such fun to drive. It has power to spare, grips the road like a champ and looks inconspicuous driving down the road. Has room for the whole family and an enormous trunk for those quick (and I do mean quick) trips to the grocery store. This car is a gem. Not many options, but GM only imported about 3000 per year, so this makes sense. The infotainment system wasn't nearly as good as the one in my wife's Ford, but that isn't an issue for this car specifically, and it still worked pretty good. Excellent navigation system. The stabili-trac system took away my only concern, and that was that much hp and torque in a rear wheel drive car that I would be driving in Michigan winters. The magnetic ride control is I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. I thought it was just marketing mumbo-jumbo when I first saw it described in a Chevy truck commercial, but it is the real deal. Best car I've ever owned. And not by a little bit either.

Fun to drive

by Vortax from COLORADO SPRINGS | January 27, 2019

The seats are a bit hard so I give it 4 stars for comfort. What can I say, 2 years later and I can still get over 90% of what I paid for it, very few cars that can do that. Basically this is a camaro for those of us with kids. I take it on ski trips with snow tires and it is a fun car to drive on the mountains. I cannot recommend it for long trips... but just buy another more cushy car for that and keep the SS for 2-3 hour adrenaline loaded trips

2017 Chevrolet SS Overview

New/Notable

The 2017 Chevrolet SS is a midsize sports sedan in its final model year before being discontinued. Along with the BMW M5 and M6 Gran Coupe, it has received acclaim for being one of a few cars in its class to be offered with a manual transmission. This year, it remains largely unchanged.

Exterior
Last year, the SS sedan received a minor exterior revision with more sporty elements like a bold, hexagonal, double-stacked front grille, air ducts at the front fenders and hood, and rear diffuser styling with quad exhaust tips. But overall, the SS still has pretty muted styling like that of an unassuming sleeper. Standard features HID headlights, LED daytime running lamps, power/heated side mirrors, a dual-pipe exhaust system, a rear spoiler, Brembo brake calipers, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. A power moonroof and a spare wheel are available as well.

Under the Hood
The SS is powered by a 415-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 415 pounds-feet of torque mated to a standard 6-speed automatic or optional manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. Fuel economy for the SS is an EPA-estimated 14/22 mpg city/highway. The SS also comes with sport-tuned suspension as well as Magnetic Selective Ride Control that automatically adapts the SS to different road conditions.

Interior

Inside, the SS has a sporty, leather-trim interior with a 60/40-spliting folding rear seat. The center stack houses the standard MyLink multimedia system that includes an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription required), a USB port, and a Bose premium audio system. Dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, heated/ventilated front seats, power windows/locks, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel come standard.

Safety
Standard safety features include a limited slip rear differential, a backup camera, automatic park assist, a blindspot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision alert, and lane departure warning. Free for the first three months is the OnStar Guidance Plan, which includes automatic crash response, stolen vehicle assistance, roadside assistance, and vehicle diagnostics.
