The auto market may be years into a crossover binge, but Audi still does good business with its closely related A4 and A5. The two nameplates account for five body styles — traditional sedan, sleek Sportback sedan, Allroad station wagon, coupe and convertible — four of which are available in high-performance S guise. The coupe and Sportback can also be had as RS 5 slobbering hellhounds. For 2024, both model lineups get newly standard tech and pricing.
All 2024 A4s and A5s now feature standard adaptive cruise control, active lane-departure steering assist, front and rear parking sensors, and heated steering wheels fitted with sensors to yell at you if you remove your hands and try to let the car drive itself. All but the A4 40 and A5 Sportback 40 now allow drivers to start the car remotely through the myAudi app, and owners can also download other popular smartphone apps directly to the infotainment system. Additionally, the Navigation Package that’s available on Premium Plus and Prestige trims now gets traffic sign recognition.
Carryover Performance
A4 and A5 models are available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making either 201 horsepower in the A4/A5 40 and A4 Allroad, or 261 hp in the A4/A5 45. The S variants are powered by a 349-hp, turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, while the RS 5s have a 444-hp, twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is standard and sends power to all four wheels; S and RS variants have an eight-speed automatic.
