2010 Lexus HS 250h Overview
From the luxury arm of the company now synonymous with hybrid vehicles comes a brand new five-passenger hybrid: the 2010 Lexus HS 250h.

The 2010 Lexus HS 250h comes with a 147-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that is mated to dual electric motors. The first motor is a starter and a generator, as well as the control for the CVT transmission ratios; the second motor is the propulsion motor, and is rated at 141-horsepower. Regenerative braking feeds electricity to the Nickel Metal Hydride battery pack, which in turn powers the electric motors when needed, providing four driving modes. This hybrid system delivers a whopping 35 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, which is better overall mileage than the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid (although not quite competitive with Honda’s Insight and Civic hybrids).

A standard Lexus-style wonder of an interior awaits occupants of the 2010 HS 250h. A ten-speaker stereo with six-CD changer, USB/Bluetooth connectivity and XM Satellite Radio covers all your audio needs, while eco-friendly plastics please the hybrid crowd. Automatic dual-zone climate control with rear seat AC vents, an air filter, and a moonroof enhance comfort and ambience. Leather on the seats, door panel inserts, and steering wheel complete the luxurious look and feel of the interior. Outside, LED brake and tail lights provide an excellent visual cue as to the modernity of the 250h.

On the premium model, seats get a heat function and premium leather skins, the dashboard is upgraded with wood trim and the passenger seat gets a power lumbar adjustment. Rain-sensing wipers enhance the luxury functionality of this smooth hybrid. An optional Mark Levinson® surround sound system puts lots of icing on this tasty eco-cake.

Lots of steel provides an excellent safety cage and with the ten-airbag suite the 2010 Lexus HS 250h is set to achieve excellent crash ratings when tested. Electronically controlled brakes with antilock function and brake assist, coupled with a stability control system, keeps the driver in control and the 250h on the road. After impact, the LexusInform™ with SafetyConnect™ system (requires the optional navigation system, one-year trial subscription included) provides collision notification, stolen vehicle location and roadside assistance communications.

A compact car that is big on luxury and fuel economy, the 2010 Lexus HS 250h has a list of options and electronic functionality beyond almost anything else on the market.
