2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Overview
Jeeps have been touted for their rugged, dependable simplicity and the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited continues that tradition.
The 2013 Wrangler Unlimited keeps the squared-off design of its predecessors with a high ride, huge wheel-arches, and square stance that are all part of the original Jeep lineage. The difference, however, lies in the longer wheelbase and extra pair of doors. The 2013 Wrangler Unlimited features Jeep’s classic seven-slot front grill and round headlights along with the angular, tough body work. Depending on the trim level, different body panels and trim pieces can be added to give your Wrangler Unlimited an even more macho look. Optional features include larger wheels and tires, tow-winch, and rugged rock bars to protect the undercarriage. A hard-top roof can also be ordered.
Similar to the exterior, the Wrangler Unlimited’s interior is also rugged and highly customizable. The basic seats are cloth, but leather is an option for higher-end models. The dash is tall and square with upscale materials, but it still won’t be confused for a Range Rover. Knobs, wheels, and dials are chunky and easy to grab, an important feature for an off-roader. Standard features include air conditioning, 130-watt audio system, and adjustable headrests on the front and rear seats. The Wrangler Unlimited’s elongated wheel base means both extra trunk space and extra rear leg room when compared to the two-door Wrangler. Options include satellite navigation, Alpine Stereo system, heated seats, and Sirius XM satellite radio.
Any off-roader worth its salt needs a strong engine and the Wrangler Unlimited has one: a 285-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 with 260 pounds-feet of torque. Paired with a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic, the 2013 Wrangler Unlimited is capable of 16/21 MPG city/highway. For those who plan to take the Wrangler Unlimited deep into the wild, there are extensive performance options including several different 4WD systems, off-road suspension, locking differentials, ultra-beefy front and rear Dana 44 axles, and electronically disabled sway bars that add suspension travel. All of these things mean that the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited can go where nature would otherwise like you to go the other way.
Standard safety features include front airbags, traction control, and ABS disc brakes. Side airbags are optional.
