Bold new exterior styling highlights a spectrum of changes for the 2008 Ford Escape. With new interior options and ample cargo capacity, it offers even more flexibility and utility than ever before.

The new exterior includes a new chrome grille, hood, headlights and available integrated sidesteps. Available in four trim levels – XLS Manual, XLS, XLT, and Limited – the Escape features a choice of two engines. The 2.3 liter 4-cylinder can be paired to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, delivering slow acceleration but good fuel economy. A more powerful 3.0 liter V6 is available, and offers towing capacity up to 3,500 lbs. Front-wheel drive is standard, with available Intelligent 4-wheel drive delivering maximum traction in a variety of road and weather conditions.

Durable eco-friendly seat fabric makes its debut in the Escape, made from 100% recycled plastic and polyester fibers. With the 60/40 split folding rear seats folded down, an impressive 66.3 cubic feet of cargo room is available. New interior features include an optional Navigation System with DVD mapping, global positioning, and a 6.5” color LCD screen for touch-screen simplicity. A standard auxiliary audio input jack is compatible with portable MP3 players, helping you to rock out. New wheel options include available 17" chrome-clad wheels on Escape XLT and Limited with V6.

Standard safety features include 4-wheel anti-lock brakes to help maintain steering control while braking. Heated side mirrors are available to clear up rear vision in the wintertime. The optional reverse sensing system uses sonar and an audible beep to indicate the vehicle’s distance from an object. AdvanceTrac® and Roll Stability Control help improve control on slippery surfaces like snow and ice, gravel, or rain-soaked roads. Standard dual front airbags, front-seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags with rollover sensor protect both rows of passengers in a collision.
