BMW’s sports activity coupe, the X6, is back again for 2016 sporting the same unique styling as its predecessors.
While the X6 is defined by BMW as a coupe, it has 4 doors and shares its platform with the slightly larger and taller X5. The coupe style stems from the cars long-back shape as the roof begins to slope downward as you make your way past the B pillar. The body maintains a lean, sporty look through the use of its smooth lines and prominent creases. All models include standard 19-inch silver aluminum wheels as well as LED fog lights, a power moonroof, adaptive xenon headlights, and a power liftgate.
Under the hood, the X6 has two available engine choices. The sDrive35i and xDrive35i both feature a 300-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter I-6 engine with 300 pounds-feet of torque. The xDrive50i contains a more powerful, 445-hp, twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 making 480 pounds-feet of torque. All 3 models come standard with an 8-speed automatic with overdrive and auto-manual capabilities. The xDrive35i and xDrive50i come with all-wheel drive, while the sDrive35i is rear-wheel drive.
The 2016 X6 maintained the additional legroom (35.9 inches) and headroom (38.3 inches) that it added in its 2015 redesign in order to preserve the improved comfortability of the back seat. The 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats also allow for additional cargo space (59.7 cubic feet). Each model comes standard with a 10.2 inch touch screen with a voice activated navigation system and BMW’s latest iDrive infotainment system. New for 2016, the xDrive50i features a quad-zone automatic climate control system and a powerful, 16 speaker, 600-watt Harman Kardon surround system. All models feature powered/heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, Bluetooth connectivity, HD radio, and a USB port.
All models come with standard available safety features such as BMW Assist emergency communications, rollover sensors, front and rear parking sensors, and BMW remote services which include Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Remote Door Unlock, and the My BMW Remote App. Additionally, the newest safety features are available including a backup camera, parallel-parking assist, and a pedestrian and collision warning system with braking.
