I bought a Honda Pilot this past week, after weeks of visiting other dealerships. As a woman, I was fed up with the treatment from other dealerships. The service was excellent and I feel I was treated respectfully and fair. James, David and Gavin were a delight to work with. Big thank you to all three.

Rule #1 in sales should be, “DO NOT undermine or pre judge a customer” and I think the movie Pretty Woman has a scene in Beverly Hills, where this happens……. I wanted the best sales person, so I vetted out a sales associate before I called the dealership and as luck had it, they happened to answer. I asked about “dealer add ons” and they were much lower than my local (friendly) dealership. The lady ran my trade and gave me a price sheet. I didn’t like the value for my trade as it was lower than several local bids I had gotten on paper. I was also asking to clarify a discount given. All correspondence was done on a Sunday and i expected a reply on Monday but she replied on a Sunday and asked that I come in for a trade eval in person and they’d discuss numbers in person on the vehicle I was inquring on. Everything was friendly and timely. I was impressed…… I drove the 45 miles north today, to be greeted by the associate in person. We struck up a feiendly albeit brief conversation while she got some docs and the keys for me. I told her I wanted to look at a different color than the one that she was pricing me on. I think that irritated her. The phone rang and she got word of a client coming to her from out of town. She seemed rushed and agitated by me for no reason. I was given the keys and took a drive while they looked at my trade. I noticed something of concern on the test drive and told her. She said it could be fixed. All true. As we walked in the dealership, she had a couple saying they’d wait on her to buy a car. I think a repeat customer. She was nice to them. She again tried to push the other unit on me. It was heavily hail damaged and I didn’t like the color. She handed me a sheet and said “heres where we are” and the numbers were okay, but my trade was the same as it was online. I balked at it and she grabbed the sheet of paper. Wadded it up and said “okay” and went to her other customer. Now. I have an offer for trade from my local Honda dealer on an undamaged unit with $2k more in trade allowance than you guys offered. I was not given a chance to negotiate anything or ask questions. She wanted no part of it. I guess I wasted her time, and she made me feel that way. I have not been treated that poorly or prejudged by very many people in my car buying experiences. It’s happened but not often and I never associate with those places again. I have bought well over 100 vehicles around the metroplex. I’ve been a lot of places. I am loyal to certain dealerships and I get treated good, regardless of their prices or if I buy from them or not. I stewed on how I was treated, the entire 45 minute drive home. I will pay more money to be treated better. That’s just how I am. Just like in Pretty Woman………”Big mistake. HUGE….” Because I will buy something in the next couple days. And it won’t be from Platinum Honda. Or from that sales associate initials DF.
