Worst dealership experience ever

I made appointment to view a car. Three minutes before I arrived, I received a call to confirm appointment and to verify car was there. I arrived, and car had been sent to wholesale--oops! But look at this other car... It was implied that my budget would only allow for a dirty, stained, stinky 12 year old SUV, and then only if I upped my budget by $2k. How stinky, you ask? It literally smelled like someone died in the car, with corresponding stains on the passenger seat. (Looked like a puddle of dried peepee stain on the leather seat. I can't unsee that, no matter how 'cleaned up' they'd make it 'when you come back'.) Sales manager then offered to "pay off" my loanon my car so I could have a much nicer second car. So, refinance and combine, creating negative equity? No Thanks. Three salesmen were caging me in, telling me this is the best my budget could do, trying to intimidate me into telling them how much I owed on my car. Borderline harassment. I drove 40 minutes with a toddler to view a car that didn't exist... then went through this. And when I say "worst dealership experience ever", this is with experience of 9 car purchases, including before internet searches. Ugh, seriously, avoid this place.

Excellent Car Buying Experience

I'm a long time loyal Honda customer. Just moved here from Texas where the dealership and its people were great, friendly and family oriented in the effort to make the customer feel at home. Honda is a product that sells itself (if you haven't noticed, observe the cars pulled off the side of the roads sometime; you just won't see a Honda broken down). What differentiates Honda from other dealers (automobile products) aside from the car's reliability, is the dealer's people. I visited Butler Honda several times over the past two months for some service related needs (oil change, etc.) to gauge the service and the people. Since there are several dealerships in the 60 mile radius in the larger Atlanta metro market, I wanted to be sure I would be comfortable with Butler Honda. Otherwise there were plenty of other dealerships I could visit. I met twice with Sam who spent a great deal of time with me while I waited for my car to be serviced. He answered all my questions and made me feel unrushed. When my wife and I decided last week to visit the dealership it was to buy a new Odyssey to replace my 2007 Odyssey. Sam was with another customer and Alicia met with us. I advised her that I had been working with Sam and she said that this was not a problem. She showed us the Odyssey, answered my wife's questions and once satisfied, we moved forward with the decision to buy. What I would like to convey is that Sam and Alicia listened to our description of our needs and concerns and responded in kind to point out the positives of the different models and how they could meet our needs. They both were knowledgeable, courteous, professional, friendly and treated us like family. While the deal-making took a little time, they spent the entire time ensuring they met our needs and kept us informed. When we were ready to take possession of the new car they ensured it was clean, vacuumed, and washed. They spent time going over features with us that we were not used to on the new vehicle (electronics, computer settings, etc.). They ensured that we didn't feel rushed into making any decisions, etc. This was a great experience and Sam and Alicia lived up to the goal Honda sets for its employees in selling the customer on the product that sells itself.
