Worst Experience in Car Buying in My Life!

My wife I and purchased a 2020 Honda CR-V on July 27, 2020. I had thought the problems we had in purchasing had been resolved, but they have not. Upon closer look at the contract, I noted they packed items we originally did not want, rather than list them separately. As a result, the general manager told me that the warranty for the ECP Auto Armor paint protection would have to be purchased since it was not listed on the bill of sale. After contacting ECP, I found this was bogus and ECP sent the warranty. I received no information on the ECP except for a little decal they affixed to the windshield directly over another decal (see photo). The Finance Manager snuck in a vehicle service contract that I did not want. When I discovered this days later, he stated it would be refunded in two to three weeks. It's now been six weeks and I have heard nothing. Further, when I calculated the price of our trade ins and the price of the vehicle, it was clear that they changed the figures. I also had to request the Monroney label later since they failed to supply that. They kept us late into the afternoon, so I'm guessing that they tried to wear down two senior citizens in their 70s. They succeeded. I supposedly have two years or 24K miles complimentary maintenance, however, I will not be taking my car to that dealer. I will gladly take it to Ocean Honda in Port Richey where I have had cars serviced before and pay for the maintenance. I regret not buying my vehicle from Ocean Honda. I have purchased cars for many decades and have never had a problem. I let my guard down this time and I have myself to blame. Nevertheless, the government agency, Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is investigating the dealer for us.

On Saturday, November 23, 2019 in the late afternoon, I arrived at Wesley Chapel Honda with my husband to look at the CR-V and Honda Accord Ex-L. We were greeted by Felix Mercado. He seemed less than interested in working with us, let alone showing us a vehicle, however, he did. We test drove both the Accord EX-L and CR-V. He told us a number of times that the Accord payment would be over $500 per month before he even spoke with any manager. We found that interesting because we had already gotten a quote from Brandon Honda via the internet for less than the $500 he kept telling us. Despite his demeanor, we finished our test drives. He offered to “get back to us” on a payment. We said that was fine because we needed to get home to let the dogs out, but let him know we live 5 minutes away. That was Saturday…we NEVER heard back from him. We ended up going to another dealership to lease a vehicle on Sunday. Today, I brought my lease back to Wesley Chapel Honda to turn in. There he was standing in the showroom. He approached me saying it was good to see me. I told him that I went ahead and leased a vehicle from another dealership since he never got back to me like he had promised. He seemed unphased, made no apologies, and acted very cocky. This is a HORRIBLE representation of the kind of service your dealership should be providing. He didn’t give us the time of day and had no humility to apologize. Apparently, his “other clients” were more important to his bottom line. I can tell you that during my time with my recently turned in Honda, I NEVER received poor service in their service department. I always was treated with respect and the process was always pleasant. Unfortunately, the last two times I have tried to lease a car from them, that has not been the case. I ended up getting my Honda the last time at Winter Haven Honda, a dealership near my parents home, after having a less than pleasant experience in the sales department. I share this review because I feel it’s important to share experiences people have. Otherwise, you people may never know. Mr. Mercado needs serious counseling in how to respect customers and make them feel like their business is valued. Especially being that he is a “Senior Sales Representative”.
