The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is an all-new, subcompact SUV that seats five passengers. Standard features include a Digital Cockpit and Car-Net with five-year remote access features from your smartphone (using cellular data). Maximum cargo capacity is 65.9 cubic feet with the rear seat folded down.
Three trim levels are available, S, SE, and SEL. The Taos is the second vehicle in the Volkswagen lineup to feature IQ.Drive, a collection of advanced driver assistance technology including semi-autonomous capabilities. It is available for S and SE trims, while it comes standard on the SEL.
It is powered by a standard 158-hp, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD). An optional drivetrain with seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and 4MOTION all-wheel drive (AWD) is also available. Fuel economy for the FWD Taos is an EPA-estimated rating of 28/36 mpg city/highway. It slightly decreases to a 25/32 mpg rating for the AWD Taos.
