Rarely do I see a business that has so many negative
Rarely do I see a business that has so many negative reviews. I'd like to add my honest personal decades long experiences with Lithia Volkswagen...My experience with Reno Lithia Volkswagen is one of my worst in my 30 year Tahoe/reno living, as a Volkswagen owner and lover they have completely turned me off to using them for any service needed. and have me considering another brand for my next car.The service tech manager Craig is still there insultinting locals one after another? This amazes me? does the owner ever listen to his phone calls. I recently had a couple of head scratching calls that about a needed service that made me go right to another VW dealer in Cali and save $345 on a simple 2 hour service.{one that suddenly switched to 3 hours when super-manager Craig saw I did my homework on the repair) It is right on the books for 2 hours. suddenly went to 3...lame! I had in my hand a written quote by them 20 days prior in person by a very unfriendly blonde haired woman at the service dept counter. When I mentioned the the part was much less expensive at several VW dealerships, they claimed that the other VW dealers were selling fake parts... We had fun with that one at Marin VW, and they said I should contact VW National, so I will after this review.. Will fill you in on what they have to say... The brand is having a tough time right now, so washing out terrible dealerships will be in the future. and then add on Craig the Manager telling me a "we won't guarantee our work because the written diagnosis from tires plus manager. wasn't from them....something I straightened out, because there is now law involved with a written diagnosis, and he developed anther layer of painful poor customer service attitude. all in all , really disgusting behavior from someone that should be kissing your xxx because you have a problem with a product they made! BTW.... A $190 diagnostic fee is xxxxxxxx and should be abloloshished. I ask them what if it takes ten minutes to figure out....do you charge me less??? blank stare...then NO was the answer! don't Don't make me pay you for you to tell me why the car you made just broke..absolute ripoff, consumers need to fight this charge...Dignostic charge make dealerships look stupid. and then add $200 bucks to you bill! Butt thats another battle altogether. Tailgate fuse story another time! So the cars are amazing.....But...I would choose another brand of vehicle in Reno just because the dealer support is so bad. In my opinion I like to have a dealer for my DSG and Plugs Svc. and then I go elsewhere for EVERYTHING ELSE. ... I have inquired for years on peoples experiences with Lithia VW,never a good report.. ski area parking lots are a great place..try it , any parking lot... all bad stories.... and across the board NOT ONE is happy with how there service dept is run? Even 1 more choice for a VW dealer in Reno/Carson would be great. My car is fixed and not through any help at all from Lithia VW of Reno.
Dealer Response
Dear valued customer, We are truly sorry your experience at Lithia VW of Reno was not a positive one. There are many things we can do better every day. Every dealership in Reno charges a diagnostic fee to start. We called the Marin dealership, and their diagnostics charge is $250.00. This is not an anomaly. This pays the technician for his time and expertise. Sometimes, a job will take multiple hours to diagnose, and we will still charge the customer only the 1.0 hour. Lithia VW of Reno is currently the highest CSI (Customer Service Index) in the Pacific region. We would love to discuss your experience to get better. Thanks for your time. It must be all Lithia Dealerships in Reno just have to be
It must be all Lithia Dealerships in Reno just have to be the worst.. You inquiry about purchasing a vehicle. They hound you by calling relentlessly, texting, email. Ok I don't have the best credit score, it doesn't make me a bad person and something i'm not particularly proud of. But don't I still deserve respect as a potential customer. They say everything we can do this, or that, but in reality unless it's worth their time don't bother. I was treated like trash to throw away and ignore. What has happened to this world, kinda sad really. I could of left specifics and names, but what would be the point. I'm not some disgruntled customer. I am just tired of being lied to. I just wanted to buy a vehicle,

Wow!
Wow! What a horrible experience. My daughter's 2010 VW Jetta was experiencing random intermittent stalling. She bought the car from a friend for $1,500 and it was not in the best condition, but it was her first car. She couldn't afford much better. She takes care of disabled people and has a kind heart, but the service tech and service manager took advantage of that. She had spent several hundred dollars at two local auto shops diagnosing the problem. The final diagnosis they gave was that they had traced it back to the ECM and it needed a new computer. They said only a dealership could replace the computer and program it. The service tech told us they would not accept any other shop’s diagnosis so they charged us $200 to tell us it would cost over $5,000 to fix it without any kind of diagnosis or repair itemization. They obviously didn’t want to work on it. She called and was told that she could pick it up if she wasn’t going to have it fixed there. She asked what time they close, and the tech said 6pm. She called me and asked if I could take her to get it. The dealership is an hour from where we live. I told her I would leave work early and we could get there around 5:30. The service tech called her back on our drive there and left her a message that they closed at 5:30. We didn’t get the message until we got there at 5:35 and the service staff had all gone home. I checked the internet, and two different places said the service bay was open until 6pm but their website said 5:30. Apparently it had changed. While trying to get someone to release the vehicle to us and pay the $200 the sales manager only wanted to sell us a new car, over and over and over, but said he couldn’t help us with the car in service (I could see the keys hanging on the rack easily accessible to anyone). We had to drive home and return the next day to get the car. We got it back and I found a company online that fixes/replaces auto computers. I shipped them the computer and they cloned it for $550. It has been running fine for months with no issues. Why would anybody want to buy a car or service their car from a place that takes advantage of people like this. I was never offered anything, not even an apology, for the miscommunication and will never do business with them again.
