I purchased my Tiguan here and bring it in for oil changes as required. The staff are all friendly and the service is good. There is a little room for improvement in regards to communication and follow through in the service department, but it won't keep me from bringing my car back for service.

Prior to going to the dealership, I started working on a deal over text messaging with a sales rep. We went back and forth with numbers and eventually settled on an agreed price. Prior to going in I read the previous reviews of the dealership and will admit I went into the dealership with my guard up. Many of the reviews mentioned dealer add ons with extra cost that were not previously mentioned. Other customers stated that the dealership would not honor the price previously agreed upon. After reading all this I was skeptical about the same thing happening to us. After test driving the vehicle, our salesman took our offer to the manager and after their discussion the manager came to talk to us. He laid out the original price plus dealer add ons and wanted to know what we thought of the price. I told him that was not the price we agreed upon with his salesman over text and I refused to pay for dealer add ons that we were never told about until after the test drive. At that point things got heated and we were about to leave the dealership when Jalil the General Manager heard what was going on. Jalil came over and asked what was going on. I mentioned to him that I read many reviews about the same thing happening to previous customers. At this point I learned that Jalil had just been hired to take over as general manager because to help clean up the reputation of the dealership. After getting our side of the story he decided that even though the price was lower than he would like to sell the truck, he agreed to honor the price since his salesman already accepted it. Jalil also waived the dealer add ons that were already applied to the truck since they were not disclosed by the salesman before we came into the dealership. Jalil was the only reason we purchased the vehicle from Tracy Volkswagen. He was a pleasure to work with and I think he has the potential to help the dealership gain the trust of previous customers as well as make new customers happy. Thank you Jamil, my son loves his truck

My experience at Tracy VW was nothing short of frustrating and disheartening. From the start, the sales team was dishonest, attempting to change the price we had agreed upon over the phone as soon as we arrived at the dealership. What followed was a series of shady and unprofessional tactics aimed at wearing us down. After being made to wait for four hours, we were told that the finance person was unavailable. Two hours into our wait, my wife noticed that the finance person was actually sitting around, not doing anything. At that point, we realized they were playing games with us. When we confronted them and decided to leave, they suddenly said they could have everything ready within 15 minutes. Once we finally sat down with the finance person, he tried to tweak the numbers yet again, changing the agreed-upon price. We caught the discrepancy, and after hours of waiting, we were beyond frustrated. I told my wife that this was the final straw, and we were ready to leave. At this point, the finance person became defensive, aggressive, and unprofessional, taunting us by sarcastically pointing out that we drove from San Jose to Tracy, sat through traffic and waited for hours, only to leave over a $250 discount. He even accused us of trying to use "leaving the dealership" as a tactic to get a better deal. I calmly explained that it was about principles—if an agreement is made, it should be honored. Only then did his tone change, and he finally adjusted the price back to what we had originally agreed on. By this time, we were exhausted and didn’t want to leave without a car for our daughter, so we reluctantly went through with the purchase. Adding insult to injury, it was past 8 PM when we finished, and most of the staff, including the salesperson, had left for the day. We didn’t even receive a proper vehicle delivery or orientation. This all happened last year, and while I initially chose not to submit a review, thinking this type of behavior was common among dealerships, my recent experience at Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City has changed my mind. The professionalism and integrity at Carlsen Subaru contrasted so starkly with my experience at Tracy VW that it reopened the wound and reminded me of just how terrible that experience was. To anyone considering Tracy VW, be warned: they will use every tactic in the book to wear you down and manipulate the deal. Their lack of honesty and professionalism made this the worst car buying experience of my life.
