With last year’s silver anniversary behind it, the Toyota Sienna starts its next 25 years on solid footing. Exclusively a hybrid since the current generation debuted for the 2021 model year, Toyota’s minivan captured nearly one-third of the segment’s sales in 2022. For 2024, little has changed for the Sienna.
What’s New?
The Sienna’s Anniversary Edition is obviously gone from the lineup, and the next-biggest news is an XSE Premium Package that adds content such as ventilated front seats and leather upholstery to the mid-grade 2024 Sienna — features that were previously only available on top-tier Siennas. Toyota hasn’t announced pricing for the package yet, but it will presumably be less than the $4,700 separating the XSE from the Limited, which includes much of that equipment as standard.
Other than that, things get a little darker for other trim levels. The LE and XLE variants get dark chrome accents around the headlights, and the all-wheel-drive XSE and Woodland trims now come with darker wheels.
Standard Safety Features
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard on every Sienna trim level. This suite of features includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and cyclist and road-sign recognition. Not included in the safety suite but also standard across the Sienna lineup are blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Engine Specs and MPG
All 2024 Siennas are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s assisted by a pair of electric motors for a total system output of 245 horsepower. Power is routed through a continuously variable automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and AWD is available.
Though official 2024 numbers are not yet available, model-year 2023 front-drive Siennas get an EPA-estimated 36 mpg combined. AWD models drive the rear axle with a third electric motor, an efficient setup that reduces the fuel-economy penalty typically associated with the drive configuration. It costs the Sienna just 1 mpg in combined ratings.
