I bought a gorgeous green highlander, less than a year
I bought a gorgeous green highlander, less than a year old, with less than 14K miles from Mac Haik. I pulled out of the lot that night and started driving home. A low engine oil light went on. I had to go to work the next day, but on the way home I went to Jiffy Lube and asked them to check the oil level. They said it was full and clear. I noticed from the screen that there had been a long history of low oil pressure warnings and also engine issues going back to December. Then I didn't feel so good about the purchase. Also, I discovered studying the Carfax that the car had been put up for sale by auction by a Toyota dealership after the car failed to pass an emissions test. That's really bad news for a new car. In the meantime, the sales guy, Matt Carl, began insisting I pay him $1,000 because he said my trade in wasn't worth $2,000. After the dealer repaired the car by replacing a sensor, he was wanting me to pay him the $1000 before relinquishing the car to me. It was outrageous. He also didn't give me the paperwork to say what service had done to repair the car, but held up some paper in front of his face and pretended to read it to me--seemed like complete xx. He said fine, take your trade back! I said, OK, take the Highlander back! He went into his manager and there was screaming and cursing--the F word, and I'm a 60 year old lady sitting on the other side of the glass door with my son. I was worried about this car. Why would a large dealership have auctioned it if it didn't have some serious issue? I couldn't get my money back from Mac Haik (what I wanted) and I certainly didn't want to deal with this used car sales guy anymore, so I went around to the new car side and was able to return my used 2024 with the purchase of a new 2025. I just wish they had offered me the return of my money, period. I was trapped. I would have gone to Car Max, as the inventory of cars was so low at Mac Haik when I was there, end of May, I hardly had a selection--just ugly black and gray cars with black interiors. I wanted a beautiful color, green or indigo blue with tan but I'm stuck now with gray / black.

Would be nice if a person could scan the inventory before having to write a review on something they can’t view I tried to go into used trucks. As I didn’t have a trade in it kicked me off the site. Looks like I will go to other dealers. Sad
