I brought my RAV4 in for service with the message,
I brought my RAV4 in for service with the message, "Hybrid Battery System Malfunction - Low Braking Power" on 1/5/26. Later that day, it was determined that the hybrid battery needed to be replaced. On 1/6/26, I was told that the battery was "in transit". On 1/9/26, I was given the same status. At this point, I asked if I could get some more detailed information. Nicole put me on hold to find out more. When she came back, she said the battery was coming from California by train, the only method of transportation possible. I followed up again on 1/12/26 and on 1/14/26. By this time I needed a loaner car, which I got the following day. Nicole also informed us that the battery would arrive either that day or the next. Finally, on Saturday, 1/17/26, I got a call saying the car was ready. So, I returned the loaner and picked up my RAV4 later that morning, 13 days after I initially brought it in. Waiting 13 days to get a car repaired is completely unacceptable. I do realize that this issue goes beyond what Rick Hendrick Toyota Sandy Springs has control over. Hopefully, though, this information is passed along to others who may be able to make some changes to the process of replacing a hybrid battery. At the very least, I would suggest storing some hybrid batteries somewhere other than California, like an east coast location. Lastly, I have purchased five cars beginning in 2001. All of them have been Toyotas. This experience was so bad, that I will at least consider purchasing another brand of car when I next need one, probably in about five years. That way, I may a have better experience if a similar situation should arise in the future.
