I appreciate the fact that they don’t operate on

Reviewed by Ar14January 17, 2026

I appreciate the fact that they don’t operate on commission but I had a bad experience. They forced in several garbage services / add-ons to the used vehicle and failed to mention these online. They also were selling a car as certified pre owned which very clearly did not meet Toyota’s CPO requirements. Alan, who showed me the car, was friendly. Overall disappointing

I am spending $50,000 for delays, excuses, and “I don’t

Reviewed by jessebutakomeJanuary 06, 2026

I am spending $50,000 for delays, excuses, and “I don’t know”. My girlfriend and I went into the Toyota of The Desert Dealership with the intention of getting general 6-month maintenance and discussing trading in my Corolla. We arrived at our scheduled maintenance time, delivered the vehicle, and the maintenance employee escorted us to a sales representative. This older white gentleman asked us to wait, and he grabbed Codie for us. We told Codie we wanted a hybrid RAV4, he said they had none and showed us a plug-in version. Fast forward through test driving, Codie being very polite, and answering all of our questions. - My gf and I discussed it and decided we wanted a hybrid, so she called other dealerships. Codie now comes back with “a hybrid being delivered soon”. We discuss that I would like it tinted because we live in the desert, and rain guards for the windows to help with car sickness. He says that it should be no problem and that even though Toyota doesn’t sell rain guards that they can find some and install them. - My gf comes back and says she found one at a nearby dealership. Codie now says “ok, we can call them and have it sent over today”. He asks what dealership, we tell him, he leaves, comes back and says, “we are calling around now, but we can sign the paperwork while we wait”. - I get escorted to a guy to pay a deposit of $5,000 on a SE RAV4 and sell my Corolla to them for $7,000. As soon as I signed that paperwork, my hand was shaken, Codie said they would call me when my car was ready to pick up, and my gf and I left. - That night I received no call, not even about the car I left in the shop. So, I called them. Codie answers and says something along the lines of “Yeah, we were calling around but no dealership would ship to us, so you have to wait till 06Jan26”. This was 30Dec25. Codie says he looks and the car I left for maintenance was still sitting in the shop and he is “very sorry”. - Codie and I work it out where he drops my car off at my home after “he can find a ride back, unless I want to give him a ride back”. Fast forward to 02Jan26 Codie calls me and leaves a voicemail with excuses on why he couldn’t get the car my gf had secured on the phone with the other dealership? He also stated my car should be delivered in the next day or 2. - I called Codie the next day and asked about the window tint. He said, “It was not tinted and we would have to work that out when it got here”. I did not ask about the rain guards because if the tint is a no, then I’m sure that is as well. - It is now 06Jan26. I have called Codie, and he has told me, “The computer says it is delayed”. He hopes it will be here in a day or 2????? I’m sorry, we had another dealership with a car ready for us, we were told Toyota of The Desert would have a car delivered same day, I have had to reach out multiple times to have a car returned to me as well as get any information on the vehicle I will be spending $50,000 on for the next 86 months. It’s not all the salespeople’s fault, but I feel let down by everyone involved. I was pushed along for a profit. I am not happy with Toyotas service.

About Toyota of the Desert

You might expect a car company’s top priority to be cars, but not at Toyota of the Desert. To us, people are number one (though cars are still a close second). That’s why our favorite three words are We Hear You. They say so much without us having to say much at all. When we listen to our customers and put their needs first, quality vehicle selection, fair prices, reliable service, and a welcoming environment are all a given.
