I purchased a Toyota Grand Highlander from Carlsbad
I purchased a Toyota Grand Highlander from Carlsbad Toyota in mid-June 2024, and my experience was quite frustrating. I went in with a pre-approved loan at 4.99%, but the salesperson, Martin Suarez, pressured me into taking a higher rate of 7.99% through Toyota, with assurances that I could switch back to my original loan after three months. Unfortunately, this turned out to be false, and the loan process became complicated, leading to financial stress. The car also had a known recall issue regarding the side airbags, which Martin downplayed during the sale. A few days after I bought the vehicle, all Highlanders were pulled from the dealership lots due to the recall, but Martin continued to dismiss my concerns. He even pointed out Highlanders being held on reserve to show they were still in demand, despite the fact that they couldn’t be sold because of the recall. Three months later, the recall issue remains unresolved, and I feel unsafe driving the car. Additionally, I felt that as a woman, I wasn’t treated with respect. While the words used were polite, the tone and approach made me feel dismissed and condescended to. I expected better communication and transparency during this process. Overall, this experience was very disappointing, and I do not recommend Carlsbad Toyota based on how they handled both the sale and the safety concerns.

Regarding the financing, we apologize for any confusion or miscommunication. When you purchased, you were wanting the $1000 rebate. As explained, the only way to do this would be to finance with Toyota Financial Services. Our suggestion was, if you wanted both, you have the option of refinancing with your own bank of choice at a later date. We would not be able to promise the rate with your bank would be the same as what they were offering at that time. We also understand your concerns about the safety recall. Toyota is committed to providing safe and reliable vehicles to our customers. If you feel unsafe, we would be able to offer a rental at no charge until a fix is available. Regarding your request to trade in your vehicle, we are open to discussing your options. However, a direct swap for a different model may not be feasible without a significant price difference. Drove down for an appointment.
Drove down for an appointment. The car they said was on the lot was not pulled up and ready to test drive. In fact, they couldn't find it. After 25 min we left. No follow up call either. This has got to be the worst bunch of xxxxxxx sitting around unprepared. Loosing cars..and loosing a cash sale..

Used car service department.
This review is in regard to the service department. I recently purchased a car through the dealership. I had an issue with the air conditioner. Horace Fielden provided excellent customer service. He was very helpful through the entire process. He went over and above in assisting me.
