On Memorial Day, I went to Merecedes Benz of Easton to buy a new 2020 GLC. This would be the 9th Mercedes my immediate family has purchased from a dealership. I did love the brand, but my experience that day has changed my mind permanently. I can assure you, that is the last Mercedes anyone in my family will ever buy again.
It started out very well. The sales team did an excellent job of promptly presenting an offer, which we all came to an agreement, they collected all necessary documents needed to complete the transaction, which included a check for $38,000.00 covering the entire purchase price. At that time I thought, what possibly could go wrong? It was a beautiful day, in the high 80's and I had guests waiting for me at home since we planned to spend the afternoon relaxing on a nearby spring filled limestone quarry lake. I assumed we could wrap this transaction up quickly since it was a cash transaction and the "finance guy" who we'll call Chuck, for all intensive purposes, had everything needed to print the 5 documents for me to sign and I would soon be enjoying the day. I could have not been more wrong.
I literally sat for 2 hours, in a mask waiting to hear from Chuck. Not a word from him the entire time. I then realized, evidently, Mercedes of Easton doesn't want to sell me a car. I was contemplating just cancelling the transaction, then call the Mercedes Benz of Dublin and see if they were willing to take my check for $38,000.00 and to sell me a new GLC. My frustration was noticed by the sales manager who immediately woke up Chuck from his daydream and notified him he is at work, so he might as well do his job since he was already on the premises. It all went downhill from that point.
I was then told to follow Chuck to his office. Before I even sat down, Chuck screams at me "IS THERE A PROBLEM?" I began to mention I've been waiting for him for over 2 hours and then he proceeded to cut me off and inform me he had "3 sales TODAY". No apology for the wait, since I was apparently not welcome in his pompously conceited world. I have never felt more unwelcome. I was beyond shocked. I thought if I was helping pay his salary, I was under the false belief he would at least act in a civilized manner. But unfortunately, those who most likely were born in a barn and raised by livestock apparently do not share these same ideologies. I was guessing at that time he was going to challenge me to a fist fight in the parking lot. I literally never imagined handing someone a check for $38,000.00 and expecting the finance guy to do his job I would literally feel threatened. But then I realized, this guy is about as stable as a teeter totter so I prepared to make an emergency 911 call just in case.
I signed the documents as fast as I could, just to get away from Chuck. I finally got my keys and jumped in my new vehicle and got as far away from Mercedes Benz of Easton as fast as I could. I can assure you, I, nor any of my family will ever do business with them again.
The transaction was going very well in the beginning. I really would have given them a five star rating if it was not for Chuck. But unfortunately, he made the buying experience an abhorrent nightmare while simultaneously ruining Memorial Day for myself as well as my guest who patiently waited for my presence.
The sad part is that if Chuck just acted in a professional manner and tried as hard as he could to act like an adult and explain to me it was going to take 2 hours for him to powder his nose and stroke his arrogant ego before he decided to do his job, I most likely would have at least found some relief during the 2 hour wait knowing that he knew I existed. But unfortunately, that was not the case. He showed no evidence he could act in a professional manner, let alone show any signs of respect to someone who was literally paying his salary. It was an incredibly pathetic display on his part.
Thanks for the support and service Misty!!!!
