Kia Overview

Price (MSRP): $13,900 (Rio) to $32,290 (Cadenza)

Kia’s smallest vehicle is the Rio, which comes as either a 4-door sedan or 5-door hatchback. This year, it’s been redesigned.

Moving a size up, the Forte also has sedan and hatchback bodystyles. The 5-door hatchback is known as the Forte5.

The Optima midsize sedan is joined by the new Optima Hybrid and Optima Plug-In Hybrid. The Optima Hybrid’s powertrain combines a 193-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with a lithium polymer battery powered electric motor found behind the rear seats. The Optima Plug-In model has a larger battery for an impressive driving range of 20-miles on pure electricity.

The Cadenza is an upscale, full-size sedan that is powered by a 290-hp, 3.3-liter V-6 engine mated to a an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Making its debut last year, the Niro hybrid is a wagon that looks like an SUV. It is powered by a standard 146-hp, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder and an electric motor mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. Fuel economy for the Niro is an EPA-estimated 50 mpg combined rating.

The all-new Stinger is a high-performance sports sedan that is powered by a standard 255-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. A more powerful 365-hp, twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6 engine is also available.

Kia also offers up a pair of substantial SUVs in the Sportage and Sorento.

The Soul is a compact SUV with a boxy exterior. It has an impressive 61.3 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. The Exclaim trim comes with a 201-hp turbocharged 161-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder mated to 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

The Sportage compact crossover is powered by a standard 181-hp, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed automatic and front- or all-wheel drive. The SX Turbo trim comes with a 240-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder.

The midsize Sorento offers seating for seven passengers across three rows. A more powerful 290-hp, 3.3-liter V-6 mated to a 6-speed automatic and all-wheel drive is available for the LX and higher trim levels.

The Sedona family minivan seats up to eight passengers. Cargo space is 78.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
