GMC Overview

Price Range (MSRP): $22,200 (Canyon) to $52,400 (Yukon XL)

GMC is an upscale brand of General Motors, specializing in SUVs, pickup trucks, and other work vehicles. Generally, GMC vehicles share the same platforms as other vehicles under General Motors, but come with additional features and powertrain options.

GMC’s entry-level pickup truck is the mid-size Canyon. It has two engine options and two cab sizes to choose from as well.

The full-size Sierra 1500 pickup has been redesigned. Two pre-existing V-8 engine options return, while an all-new turbo-diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder is available. It features a new ProGrade Trailering System that monitors trailer lights, tire pressure, and temperature via a smartphone app.

For those who need more from their trucks, GMC has a pair of heavy-duty work trucks in the Sierra 2500HD and the Sierra 3500HD which have expanded cargo/towing capacity.

The five-seat Terrain compact crossover is the smallest vehicle in GMC's lineup. Like several of GMC’s other models, the Terrain comes with the OnStar communication system, which adds Wi-Fi hotspot capability over a 4G LTE connection.

GMC’s full-size crossover, the Acadia, is powered by a standard 193-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It offers seating for seven or eight across three rows of seats.

The Yukon is the full-size SUV in the lineup. It has blockish styling and a giant front grille. Under the hood, it is powered by a standard 355-hp, 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V-8 engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. Seating capacity ranges from seven to nine passengers depending on seating configuration.

If you need more cargo room and hauling capability, the Yukon XL may fit the bill with its 8,100 pound max towing capacity. On all Yukon variants, rear-wheel drive is standard while a four-wheel drive system is optional.

GMC also builds a line of work vans in the Savana 1500, Savana 2500, and Savana 3500.
