Comfort
Passengers in the back seat will feel a little more squished in the Honda Insight than in the Hyundai Elantra, due to the Honda Insight's smaller rear head- and legroom.
As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the Honda Insight and the Hyundai Elantra in the front seats.
Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Honda Insight as you will with the Hyundai Elantra, as they get the same number of miles per tank of gas.
Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The Honda Insight is somewhat more expensive than the Hyundai Elantra.
Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Honda Insight and the Hyundai Elantra have similar Destination Charges.
Dimensions
The Honda Insight is about the same width as the Hyundai Elantra.
When looking at overall length, the Honda Insight takes up about the same amount of space in your garage as the Hyundai Elantra.
Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the Honda Insight is significantly less powerful than the Hyundai Elantra. The good news is that, reportedly, cars with lower horsepower engines often have lower insurance premiums.
Powertrain
The Honda Insight has much less torque than the Hyundai Elantra, which generally means that it won't feel as fast or powerful.
Utility
In terms of seating you'll be able to fit the same number of people in both the Honda Insight and the Hyundai Elantra.
Warranty
The basic warranty of the Honda Insight is not as nearly as extensive as that of the Hyundai Elantra.
