Comparison Review

Comfort
Rear passengers will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Ford Edge than in the Subaru Ascent. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between front seat comfort in the Ford Edge and the Subaru Ascent.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Ford Edge as you will with the Subaru Ascent, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). When looking only at MSRP, the Ford Edge will have less of an impact on your bank account than the Subaru Ascent. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Destination Charge for the Ford Edge is much higher than that for the Subaru Ascent.

Dimensions
The Ford Edge is about the same width as the Subaru Ascent. The Ford Edge is slightly shorter than the Subaru Ascent, which may make it easier to park.

Drivetrain
With similar torque, the Ford Edge and the Subaru Ascent are about even in transmitting their respective horsepower to the wheels.

Handling
The Ford Edge has a larger turning radius than the Subaru Ascent, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Subaru Ascent is clearly the choice over the Ford Edge for pulling heavy loads. The Ford Edge has a little less horsepower than the Subaru Ascent.

Utility
Soccer Moms beware - the Ford Edge seats a lot fewer people than the Subaru Ascent. The Ford Edge has less cargo space than the Subaru Ascent, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
The Ford Edge comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Subaru Ascent.
