Comparison Review

Comfort
Rear passengers will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Ford Edge than in the Mazda CX-9. The Ford Edge will be popular with taller drivers and passengers in the front seat, due to its greater front head- and legroom than the Mazda CX-9.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Ford Edge as you will with the Mazda CX-9, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). When looking only at MSRP, the Ford Edge will have less of an impact on your bank account than the Mazda CX-9. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Destination Charge for the Ford Edge is much higher than that for the Mazda CX-9.

Dimensions
Since the Ford Edge is much slimmer than the Mazda CX-9, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. If you go with the Ford Edge, you'll have a much easier time finding a large enough space to park than you will with the Mazda CX-9.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque engine, the Ford Edge doesn't do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the Mazda CX-9.

Handling
The Ford Edge has the same turning radius as the Mazda CX-9, so they both maneuver the same in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Mazda CX-9 is clearly the choice over the Ford Edge for pulling heavy loads. The Ford Edge has a little more horsepower than the Mazda CX-9.

Utility
The Ford Edge has less seating than the Mazda CX-9, making the Mazda CX-9 the better choice, if you need to chauffeur many passengers. You'll be able to fit about the same amount of groceries in the Ford Edge as you will in the Mazda CX-9.

Warranty
The Ford Edge comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Mazda CX-9.
