Comparison Review

Comfort
Passengers in the backseat will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Ford Edge than in the BMW X1, due to its greater head- and legroom. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between front seat comfort in the BMW X1 and the Ford Edge.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the BMW X1 as you will with the Ford Edge, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). When looking only at MSRP, the BMW X1 will have less of an impact on your bank account than the Ford Edge. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The BMW X1 carries a much lower Destination Charge than the Ford Edge.

Dimensions
Since the BMW X1 is much slimmer than the Ford Edge, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. If you go with the BMW X1, you'll have a much easier time finding a large enough space to park than you will with the Ford Edge.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque engine, the BMW X1 doesn't do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the Ford Edge.

Handling
The BMW X1 has a smaller turning radius than the Ford Edge, allowing you to more easily maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
The BMW X1 has a little less horsepower than the Ford Edge.

Utility
In terms of seating, you'll be able to fit about the same number of people in both the BMW X1 and the Ford Edge. The BMW X1 has significantly less cargo capacity than the Ford Edge.

Warranty
You'll have greater peace of mind with the more generous basic warranty of the BMW X1 than that of the Ford Edge.
