Comparison Review

Comfort
Passengers in the back seat will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Volvo S90 than the BMW 540, due to its greater head- and legroom. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the BMW 540 and the Volvo S90 in the front seats.

Convenience
The BMW 540 will require fewer stops at the gas station than the Volvo S90, making it more convenient to drive.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The BMW 540 is somewhat more expensive than the Volvo S90. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The BMW 540 and the Volvo S90 have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
The BMW 540 is a little narrower than the Volvo S90, so you'll have an easier time getting in and out of the car in a tight parking spot. The BMW 540 is slightly shorter than the Volvo S90, which may make it easier to park.

Drivetrain
With somewhat higher torque, the engine of the BMW 540 transmits a bit more power to the wheels than the Volvo S90.

Handling
The BMW 540 has about the same turning radius as the Volvo S90, allowing equal maneuverability in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of horsepower, it's basically a tie between the BMW 540 and the Volvo S90.

Utility
In terms of seating you'll be able to fit the same number of people in both the BMW 540 and the Volvo S90. The BMW 540 has less cargo capacity than the Volvo S90, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
The BMW 540 comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Volvo S90.
