Comparison Review

Comfort
Passengers in the back seat will be able to stretch out a lot more in the BMW M4 than the BMW 230, due to its greater head- and legroom. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the BMW 230 and the BMW M4 in the front seats.

Convenience
The BMW 230 will require fewer stops at the gas station than the BMW M4, making it more convenient to drive.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Based on MSRP, the BMW 230 is clearly a better financial choice over the BMW M4. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The BMW 230 and the BMW M4 have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
Since the BMW 230 is much slimmer than the BMW M4, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. If you go with the BMW 230, you'll have a much easier time finding a large enough space to park than you will with the BMW M4.

Drivetrain
The BMW 230 has much less torque than the BMW M4, which generally means that it won't feel as fast or powerful.

Handling
The BMW 230 has a significantly smaller turning radius than the BMW M4, allowing much better maneuverability in and out of tight spots.

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the BMW 230 is significantly less powerful than the BMW M4. The good news is that, reportedly, cars with lower horsepower engines often have lower insurance premiums.

Utility
In terms of seating you'll be able to fit the same number of people in both the BMW 230 and the BMW M4. The BMW 230 has less cargo capacity than the BMW M4, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
The BMW 230 comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the BMW M4.
