Poor Customer Service

My overall impression is that you should avoid Nissan of Richmond at all costs. I certainly will never recommend them to anyone looking to buy a vehicle and will not be purchasing from them again. I don't normally write reviews, especially negative ones, but I hope my experience will help someone avoid the same experience I've had with Nissan of Richmond in the future. From start to finish, this has been an overwhelmingly negative and frustrating experience. First, after seeing the car we were interested in online at what we thought was a fair price, we drove from 3 hours away (we're from a neighboring state) to test drive and purchase the vehicle. When we arrived we were informed that the prices online were incorrect and the car was actually $2,000 more than what was posted online. I was given a vague reason for this difference in price. Suffice to say, I perceived this as a marketing trick to get me in the door, was appalled, and was ready to walk out the door. We were, however, eventually able to come to an agreement on the price and chose to buy the car. This was not the only instance of this sort of behavior during our purchasing experience and I certainly expected some of this behavior when buying a car, but it was frustrating nonetheless. All total, however, we spent 5 hours at the dealership, much of which was waiting for someone to finalize the paperwork. Be prepared to spend a lot of time waiting once you agree to purchase. I felt that once we had agreed to purchase, we were no longer a priority. Had these been my only complaints, I would not be writing this review. Since finalizing the purchase, my experience has gone from bad to worse. Since we are out of state, we will be registering the car ourselves in our home state. Nissan of Richmond failed to provide us with the appropriate documentation to register our car. I have been calling weekly for 3 weeks asking for help. I have left direct messages with Evan, as has my husband, weekly since we purchased the car and never received a return phone call. I have spoken with our original sales rep Grant, as well as Michelle at the front desk and a sales rep named Tyler looking for help. I am continually transferred to lines with no voicemail option and have never been able to speak with anyone who can address this problem. On one occasion someone answered my call and immediately put me on hold without answering. This seems like a simple problem to remedy, I know which documents I need and I have made that clear, but Nissan of Richmond seems unable or unwilling to spare the time to help me.

I went to Nissan of Richmond yesterday after seeing a focus on their site, they called me set up an appointment and verified the price of the car. I get there had to wait an hour and half to see the inside and test drive the car. Finally go in talk to finance we agreed on the cash price. He called the "manager Mike" for approval and got told NO they can't sell the car for that. I was aggervated for them waiting my time and promised to give them bad publicity last night within 10 minutes of me filing a complaint the "manager Mike" who refused the deal, agreed to sell me the car AND took an 1100.00 deposit over the phone. This morning I pulled the car on there site they relisted it for more money I called them to tell them to take it off the site and told them what time I was coming to finish paying and pick up the car, oh no problem Mrs Downey it will be ready for you. My son and I were literally on the way to the dealership and the "manager Mike" called to say when they were detailing the car they found a lot of issues and the car is not road worthy! he stated they weren't going to fix the issues they would just wholesale the car out. I told him I was almost there and I wanted a receipt of refund for my deposit. So I got to the dealership demanded to speak to the manager he talked to me for 30 minutes how the car has mechanical issues and they cannot sell the car!. I told them I wanted a receipt and my money back. As my son and I were driving through the lot we saw the car, it pulled out the shop to the side. I followed and a lady and her husband were getting into the car I made sure to tell them I put a deposit on the car last night but was told on my way to pick it up that the car was not road worthy and they needed to talk to the manager before driving off in a car that wasn't safe, she asked me to walk in with her. They were taken into an office and my son and I were escorted out the building Where I stood for 40 minutes waiting on the manage of who they kept telling me had left! I finally went back inside and caught him walking down the hall and I asked him how the xxxx can they tell me after buying a car that it's not road worthy and sell it to someone else for more money, he said we didn't sell the car blah blah blah I told him he was lying to my face and I spoke to the new owner who they sold it to he then asked if they could find me a comparable car and when I said I would be filing complaints with the BBB the manager watched me walk to my car and waited until I left.
