Watch out for unmentioned price changes

I ended up buying a car that I like, but feel that I was manipulated and taken advantage of. It was my first experience buying a car and it was really such a negative experience. First, I told the salesperson what I wanted as a monthly payment. I wanted to see if I could finance on my own without my mom co-signing. But needed the terms to be right. He was trying to convince me to do bi-weekly payments. I wouldn’t have minded that, but it would have more than doubled what I told him I wanted to pay per month. I became frustrated, then they were like, we can do it for around your monthly price over the same loan period. We had already been shown a cost sheet in the lobby and agreed with the cost. The car was listed online as $11,430. That is what was on the cost sheet. They showed us what the taxes and fees would be and we agreed to that. Then, we were nervous over the bi-weekly cost communication. So, when they then said $250 a month we agreed. I signed the contract because my focus was on the monthly payment. I noticed later that on the contract, the vehicle cost was now several thousand dollars more $15,800 . Then taxes and fees added on top. My fault for not paying closer attention. But, they should have pointed out the cost was now much different than the sheet we were shown and agreed to in the lobby. I called to ask why the discrepancy and was treated like an idiot (“Honey, that’s why we make you sign a big contract.”) The explanation was that the cost was different to get lower monthly payments. Please tell me how adding several thousand dollars to the cost would mean lower monthly payments? It is a big lesson learned now that I will be paying thousands more. I think the bi-weekly “misunderstanding” was a method of distraction so I wouldn’t realize the price change from the sales sheet we agreed to in the lobby to what was actually put onto the contract. Buyer beware- they will change the terms from that sheet without notifying you and distract you so you are less likely to notice it. A very costly lesson for me.

We had been on the market for a specific equipped Altima and Jeff Wyler Kings Nissan was the only one in the area with the one we were looking to purchase. The internet group convinced us to visit their dealership, that we would be treated with respect and given a fair price on our trade and the vehicle we were interested in even though it was a 2016. Skeptical, yes but we decided to put them to the test. We were greeted with a smile, they took us right to the Altima, on the road we went and in our opinion the Altima still stands to be the best value for a mid-size sedan to this day. We were given a respectable offer for our trade and a deal was made. Within an hour and a half we were back on the road to Dayton with a brand new car, no reservations or regrets for the deal we made, just great big smiles on our face. Thank you Jeff Wyler internet team and finance department (Richard W. Greco) for a wonderful experience. Hope to deal again some day. I have already recommended this dealership.
