2017 Mazda CX-5 Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Redesigned for 2017
  • Refined, sophisticated styling
  • Improved handling
The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is a compact premium SUV that seats five passengers. This year, it has been redesigned with new exterior and interior styling as well as improved handling.

Three trims are available: the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring.

Mazda continues to evolve its signature Kodo design language through the redesigned CX-5. This time, it is even bolder and sleeker than its much lauded predecessor. The focal point of CX-5 is its deeply concaved, crest-shaped grille that is flanked by aggressive headlights. A noticeable gap between the hood and bumper gives the CX-5 an unconventional, aerodynamic appearance. Dynamic body lines begin sharp at the front- and rear-ends, but elegantly blend into the side doors. Standard features for the CX-5 include LED headlights, daytime running lamps, power side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, a rear spoiler, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Adaptive headlights, LED fog lights, a power liftgate, and 19-inch alloy wheels are also available.

Under the hood
The CX-5 is powered by a standard 187-hp, 2.5-liter SKYACTIV 4-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission. Front wheel drive comes standard, while all-wheel drive is available. Fuel economy for the FWD model is an EPA-estimated 24/31 mpg city/highway. The rating slightly lower to 23/29 for the AWD model.

Inside, the CX-5 has a sporty cloth interior with a 40/20/40-split folding rear seat. The center stack features the standard MAZDA CONNECT infotainment system, which includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, and two USB ports. It can be upgraded with navigation and a Bose premium audio system. Air conditioning, cruise control, power windows/locks, remote keyless entry, and a push-button start come standard. Leatherette or full leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated front seats are available as well.

Standard safety features include a backup camera. Adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, a blindspot monitoring system, and rear-cross traffic alert are optional.

EPA Fuel Economy
