Mazda of Spartanburg

Their service department would get a zero from me if I could give it. I have been going there for years and, previously, only got understandable recommendations for work that needed to be done. However, this time they said that I immediately needed 6 services. Three of which had been done recently, one which Mazda says is not needed unless there is an issue (which there was not), and two that are not generally necessary. This is after they made a big mistake on my previous visit which made me take a day off to get it corrected. [I also had just had a preventative repair made at an independent shop that told me everything else was great.] The service rep said he would check into it and call me, but he did not. They also did not send the survey they had ALWAYS sent in the past as they knew it would not be good. I will not be going back since obviously now they think they can take advantage of people just to make money.

I was incredibly excited to purchase my first car—a milestone I had been saving for—and chose Mazda after hearing such great things about the brand. Unfortunately, my experience hasn’t lived up to those expectations. Within the first hour of bringing my car home, we discovered a hole in the roof where the fin was supposed to be. To their credit, Mazda of Spartanburg addressed the issue and assured me that they thoroughly inspected the vehicle to ensure everything else was in top shape. However, just a week later, the car began leaking oil. We found that the oil had been overfilled by nearly two inches. Now, three weeks after my purchase, the car has spent nearly half that time in the shop. I understand that unexpected issues can arise, but it’s incredibly disappointing to have already experienced two significant problems with a 2022 vehicle with only 36,000 miles on it, especially when this is the largest purchase I’ve ever made. It leaves me concerned about what other issues might be hiding beneath the surface.

Salesman: Mr G. I could not say enough great about him. I bought a 2024 exactly like my 2020. I wanted the exact car I had but automatic, Mazda Miata Grand Touring RF Soul Red Crystal. Dealership didn’t have it. He checked other dealers to accommodate me. I have bought many new cars over the past 50 years. Never have I been treated like I was the only customer. Mr G was so attentive. Negotiating was non confrontational. When I picked up the car Mr G went over everything very thoroughly about the changes from 2020 to 2024. He said to call him with any questions, which I did. Always had time for me. He checks on me periodically to make sure I am happy. Hopefully he will still be working when it comes time for another new car. If I know anyone buying a new or used car I would highly recommend Mr G. He is the greatest. I have horror stories from past experiences.
