2016 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Overview (See Available Styles)

  • 41/39 mpg city/highway
  • Same MSRP as the gasoline version of the MKZ
  • Smartphone compatible technology
The 2016 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is back for another model year sporting the same increased fuel economy and luxury updates as the previous 2015 model.

Lincoln continues its unorthodox technique of pricing the gas and hybrid models of the MKZ at exactly the same MSRP. This allows drivers to get a big boost in fuel economy (an over 40-percent improvement) for no additional cost and the savings start immediately, compared to other hybrids where you have to wait for the money you save on gas to offset the difference in purchase price.

Styling on the MKZ Hybrid is virtually identical to the gas powered MKZ. All things considered, we refer to the MKZ Hybrid’s styling as “slick” with its wide, winged front grille feeding into subtle lines and creases that run down the side of the car and give it a swoopy, smooth look. 18-inch wheels and LED headlights/taillights are standard, while 19-inch wheels are available. Our favorite feature is also optional, a giant panoramic sunroof that measures almost 15 square feet in area. This provides the MKZ Hybrid with a unique calling card, giving it a massive sunroof that lifts and slides backward, opening up the cabin to air and light.

Under the hood, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine running on the Atkinson cycle pairs with an electric motor to produce 188 total system hp. The electric motor is powered by a lighter, more powerful lithium-ion battery pack that has proved to be a significant improvement over the old nickel metal-hydride packs. MKZ Hybrid has enough juice to reach speeds of up to 85-mph on electric power only. Fuel economy ratings are 41/39 mpg city/highway.

Inside, the MKZ Hybrid’s features a luxurious interior that is combined with some of the latest technology. Standard features include leather upholstery, heated front seats, an eight-inch touchscreen in the center console, and MyLincoln Touch, which replaces many of the physical controls on the dashboard with touch sensitive panels instead. The MKZ Hybrid continues to offer 3G cellular connection so that drivers can interact with the vehicle using a smartphone app, which allows owners to lock the car remotely, schedule in remote starts for cold days, and check the fuel level from near or far. Available features include ventilated front seats, navigation, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Standard safety features include eight airbags, antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, and a rear view camera. The MKZ Hybrid is also available with a long list of safety technology, including forward collision sensors, blind sport warning, rear cross-traffic alerts, and inflatable rear seat belts which keep rear occupants safer in a collision.
