2016 Lincoln MKX Exterior

2016 Lincoln MKX Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Redesigned for 2016, with interior and exterior upgrades galore
  • Looks very similar to the MKC
  • New EcoBoost V-6 engine and Black Label trim level available
Returning for the new model year with an inside and out redesign is the luxurious 2016 Lincoln MKX crossover.

The redesigned extensively updated the MKX’s styling; it looks more confident and modern than the outgoing model with an updated version of Lincoln’s signature winged grille and more angular lines. The headlight clusters are especially attractive, especially when filled with the optional full LED adaptive headlights which are brand new for 2016. Standard exterior features include LED taillights, dual exhaust, and heated/powered side mirrors.

Under the hood there are changes as well. The base engine carries over, a 300-hp, 3.7-liter V-6, but the exciting option is the new 335-hp, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 that offers more power and better fuel economy. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, with standard front-wheel drive (all-wheel drive is optional).

The five-seat MKX also gets extensive Interior updates, with new materials and styling along with one unique new feature – there is no more traditional gear selector, instead there’s a push button system to select between park, reverse, etc. There is also (thankfully) the return of traditional controls to the center console, instead of the finicky touch sensitive buttons in the previous model. Standard features include leatherette seating surfaces, heated/powered front seats, USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, SYNC with MyLincoln Touch, dual-zone automatic climate control, and active noise control for a quieter cabin. Navigation, a heated steering wheel, rear seat entertainment system, HD radio, and heated rear seats are also available.

Yet again, the 2016 MKX also gets (you guessed it) new safety features as well. Beyond the standard rearview camera, seven airbags, antilock brakes, and an SOS post-crash alert system, the MKX offers a long list of available driver aids and safety technology. Adaptive cruise control with automatic braking to a full stop, lane-keeping assist, blind spot information system, cross-traffic alerts, a 360-degree camera system, and an array of sensors that powers automatic parking systems that can parallel park, perpendicular park, and even steer you out of a parking spot.
