2015 Lexus RC F Overview (See Available Styles)

  • New model for 2015
  • Emphasis on performance
  • 467-hp, 5.0-liter V-8 engine
With a powerful V-8 under the hood, the 2015 Lexus RC F is a high-performance coupe with high-octane styling to match.

The RC F, which was designed to compete with performance stalwarts like the BMW M3 and Audi RS 5 certainly looks the part of a performance car. It is mean, aggressive, and low, with a large mesh version of Lexus’ “spindle” grille leading the way. The lower air inlets flanking it are functional, routing air to the engine compartment and to the front brakes to help keep them cool. A spoiler deploys at speeds of over 50 mph to increase downforce onto the rear wheels for greater stability. 19-inch forged aluminum BBS wheels come standard, as do side mirrors with position memory and LED headlights with daytime running lights.

Under the hood, the RC F features the 5.0-liter V-8 that was previously used in the IS F but with a few updates. Many of the internal parts have been swapped out so it now produces 467-hp, 51 more than before, and 389 pounds-feet of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. A torque vectoring differential is also available, a useful feature for those who want to track the RC F. Fuel economy figures are estimated at 16/25 mpg city/highway.

The interior of the RC F shares many design features and characteristics with the IS sports sedan. The center console is covered in high-class materials and juts out sharply splitting the front seats in two. Behind the gear lever is a small touchpad for interacting with the RC F’s infotainment functions; it was designed to operate like a smartphone or tablet, offering a level of familiarity to users. Standard interior features include a 10 speaker stereo, power front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a 7-inch display, and NuLuxe upholstery over sport seats. A navigation system, heated/ventilated front seats, real leather upholstery, and a Mark Levinson speaker system are optional.

Standard safety features include eight airbags, antilock brakes, rearview camera, and electronic stability control. Also available are several safety technology systems, including forward sensors that power pre-collision braking/warnings and adaptive cruise control, a blind spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alerts, and front/rear parking sensors.

EPA Fuel Economy

  • City: 16 MPG
  • Highway: 25 MPG
