2015 Lexus IS 250C Exterior

2015 Lexus IS 250C Overview

  • Convertible version of the IS 250
  • Still based on the older IS platform
  • Seating for four passengers
The 2015 Lexus IS 250C is the convertible version of the IS 250, offering a power-folding hardtop and unique coupe styling.

Though the IS250 sedan got an extensive redesign last year, the 250C did not get the same changes and still sits on the platform of the older model. There are only slight updates for 2015, the Lexu Enform App Suite adds Slacker internet radio and updates a few other apps.

The IS 250C seats four instead of five like the IS 250 sedan, and has two doors. This gives the IS 250C a unique profile, with an abbreviated roof that drops down sharply once it passes the front windows. With the top up, the IS 250C looks more quirky than sleek; frankly put, we prefer the styling with the top down where the proportions look more natural.

The power-folding hardtop that opens or closes in just 21 seconds, and inside you will find anti-glare gauges that remain readable even when they are in direct sunlight with the top down. The audio and climate system have also been designed to automatically adjust volume or temperature setting when the top is lowered.

Under the hood, you’ll find the same 204-hp, 2.5-liter V-6 that makes 185 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The IS 250C has EPA estimated fuel economy ratings of 21/30 mpg city/highway.

Inside, the IS 250C offers plenty of standard comfort and convenience features including dual-zone automatic climate control, USB/iPod connectivity, push button start, Bluetooth, and leather upholstery. Options include a navigation system that accepts voice commands, Lexus’ Enform telematics system, and a Mark Levinson 14-speaker sound system. Thanks to the foldable roof, there isn’t much cargo space in the back so be aware of that when planning for trips.

When it comes to safety, the IS 250C has you covered with Lexus’ Safety Connect service, which automatically notifies authorities after a crash, as standard equipment. Also standard are all-disc antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, and six airbags, including driver and passenger knee airbags.
