Lexus’ entry level model, the 2015 CT 200h, is not only its most affordable vehicle it is also the most fuel efficient.

The four-door hatchback gets minor updates for the new model year. The built-in HomeLink garage door opener has been updated, as has the Enform App Suite which gets new apps and the navigation system adds some new voice command functionality. Other than that, it’s pretty much business as usual for the CT 200h. Exterior styling was slightly tweaked last year with a new face and updated wheel designs. The larger front grille gives the hybrid a dash of added menace, a welcome change. 17-inch wheels are standard, along with a power moonroof, LED daytime running lights and taillights, and heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators.

Under the hood, the CT 200h shares its powertrain with the Toyota Prius. This familiar application combines a 1.8-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor for a total output of 134 horsepower. There are four driving modes depending on your mood (Normal, Eco, EV, and Sport) and power runs through a CVT to the front wheels. Fuel economy ratings are estimated at 43/40 mpg city/highway.

Inside, the CT 200h comes with plenty of standard features, discarding its entry level label. Simulated leather upholstery, Bluetooth connectivity, USB port, dual-zone automatic climate control, and powered front seats all come standard. A navigation system with Lexus’ remote touch controller and the Enform App suite are optional. Remote touch also gets ergonomic updates for 2015 that make it easier to use. Behind the rear seats is 14.3 cubic feet of cargo space.

The 2015 CT 200h has impressive crash test safety ratings, earning a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS, their highest designation. Eight airbags come standard including knee airbags for front seat passengers, along with antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and active front headrests. There is also plenty of optional safety technology, including a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a pre-collision system that includes dynamic cruise control.
