Car damage not covered be Newport lexus

I had work done on my 2010 lexus sc430 at Newport Lexus and until October 2020 was very pleased with their expertise. I am very disappointed that they failed to take responsibility for the damage they did to my clear plastic on my heat/AC controls. This is what is known to be a hardtop convertible. It’s special in that it was the last year they made them (only 329 were built). It’s a garage Queen in that it spends more time in my garage than the road. Since this occurred I’ve put less than one mile a day on it! I’m retired and don’t get out much. In 11 years it has only 36k miles on it. It is very special to me and I know it well. When I pointed out the scratch the very next morning, the manager immediately denied his guys could of done it. It is harder to see until you put the convertible top down and then I noticed immediately. The car was in for a new battery and the stereo did not work. The stereo is immediately below the glass for the AC. It turned out that the battery was the reason the stereo did not work, even though everything else worked after jumping the battery. The manager checked his security cameras and said no it wasn’t my guys. Those must be some cameras to see the car at all times. He actually sounded like he would take responsibility until he found the part itself was over $1k. That loss will cost them this customer and you might want to have second thoughts as well. I’ve lived in Costa Mesa for 4 years and this dealer is the only place I let service it-until now.

Mr. Jones, My apologies for the frustrations regarding your service visit specifically the scratch on the a/c display which you found the following day. To be very transparent in the matter accidents do happen occasionally within the inner workings at Newport Lexus but in every case, we are upfront and honest with the customer. With as many moving parts as a dealer has if accidents didn’t happen I would question our humanity. With that said as soon as your concern was brought to my attention, the Service Manager and I interviewed each employee that came in to contact with your vehicle. We started with the technician, moved on to the car wash porter, and finally the service drive valet. The last part of the investigation brought us to our closed-circuit television system where we are able to review 4k video of every move that your vehicle goes through while on the property and at no time were any of the above-mentioned employees in contact with the a/c display. As for the needed repairs, the technician replaced the battery under the hood but did not work around the radio or a/c display where the potential to cause damage could have occurred. The reason why Newport Lexus has invested in such a system is because it is important to our business that we are not only fair to ourselves but more importantly the customer and by utilizing the very best in video we are able to do exactly that. The offer still stands that if you are interested in purchasing the replacement a/c display from Newport Lexus, we will perform the installation at no charge to you. Again I apologize for your frustrations, but I thank you for taking the time to provide a review and allow us to explain ourselves as well. Shady shady shady dealership. They are awful with communication. The absolute most cumbersome buying experience. Poor communication and professionalism. Would never ever recommend them! Stay away.
