In terms of size and price, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport is positioned a step below its larger and more posh sibling, the Range Rover. Though it’s less spacious inside, the Sport shares its sleek, sophisticated look with its flagship sibling, and it’s a bit quicker and easier to maneuver in traffic thanks to its tidier dimensions.
Four-wheel drive and an adjustable air suspension are standard, along with a host of luxury features. The base engine is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six equipped with 48-volt mild-hybrid hardware; it makes 355 horsepower in the P360 SE trim and 395 hp in the P400 Dynamic. Also available is a P550e plug-in hybrid version that makes 542 hp and delivers an estimated 53 miles of electric driving range. Topping the line is the high-performance P635 SV Edition One, which has a 626-hp, twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8. The Range Rover Sport’s competitors include the BMW X5, Genesis GV80 and Porsche Cayenne.

The Range Rover Sport was redesigned for the 2023 model year. For 2024, it gets updated infotainment software, a more powerful PHEV powertrain and a new specially tuned high-performance version. The 542-hp P550e replaces last year’s 434-hp P440e PHEV, while the 626-hp P635 SV Edition One replaces the 523-hp P530 First Edition. The SV is a super-performance luxury machine that includes a specially tuned chassis, upgraded brakes and carbon-fiber trim, among other enhancements. It has a starting price of more than $180,000.
