The 2022 Kia Sportage is a compact SUV that seats up to five passengers. Maximum rear cargo capacity is 60.1 cubic feet with the rear seat folded down. This year, it receives a mild refresh to its exterior.
Four trims are available: LX, Nightfall, EX, and SX Turbo. The new Nightfall trim level includes special badging, black roof rails, and 18-inch black alloy wheels.
Under the hood, the LX, Nightfall, and EX trims are powered by a standard 181-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and front- (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The SX Turbo trim has a 240-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. However, horsepower slightly decreases to 237-hp with AWD. Fuel economy for the 2.4-liter/FWD model is an EPA-estimated 23/30 mpg city/highway. With AWD, the rating dips to 22/26 mpg. The turbocharged 2.0-liter/FWD model has a 20/28 mpg rating. That rating drops to 19/24 mpg with AWD.
